Zync finds its way into MBUX
As part of the partnership, Zync will be integrated into the vehicles’ car entertainment system. The user interface and user experience or UI and UX design are based on the current Mercedes-Benz MBUX 2 infotainment system (test), which will eventually be replaced by its own operating system called MB.OS.
ZYNC offers video streaming, on-demand content, interactive experiences, local video programming, sports, news, games and more from a single interface.
Mercedes-Benz AG Group
Zync is not a clean slate in this industry: about a year ago, Porsche joined the American tech company as a strategic partner through its company builder Forward31. Like Mercedes-Benz, Porsche also claims to have recognized that “digital and personalized offers in the vehicle are becoming more and more important for many drivers“.
Zync, MBUX and Mercedes me merge
Mercedes would like to integrate existing hardware such as MBUX Hyperscreen, used in Mercedes-Benz EQE and EQS, and the rear entertainment system, into the operating concept.
Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced whether the first generation MBUX (test), released in 2018, will also receive the new streaming integration.
Additionally, existing technologies such as Dolby Atmos need to be integrated for greater immersion when streaming in your car.
Also included is Mercedes me or Mercedes me connect, the platform for the services and areas of the apps and the connected car, through which it is necessary to book and activate ZYNC first.
Free for the first year
Provided you have a Mercedes me account with the MBUX entertainment package, the service should be free for one year and then can be extended for a fee via the Mercedes me portal. The prices for the subscription are not yet known at this time.
