Witsel replacement: BVB Özcan courts

As ‘Express’ reports, BVB is for Salih Özcan “a serious option”. At the same time it shows Borussia “specific interest” the native of Cologne, who celebrated his national team debut with the Turkey shirt at the end of March.

The nomination for his parents’ hometown is the icing on the cake of an exceptional season for Özcan. After the 24-year-old didn’t have a steady job at the start of the season, he has been an integral part of Köln’s starting lineup since mid-October and has played over 90 minutes in almost every game since.

FT opinion

Niklas Süle (26) and Nico Schlotterbeck (22) have already signed for next season and Karim Adeyemi (20) is about to change. Interest in Özcan fits perfectly into the picture. The Cologne shooting star has shown his qualities this season and could now take the next step in his career in Dortmund. And with his contract expiring in a year, the payout shouldn’t be a hindrance.
