Vodafone campaign: Free Pay TV for cable customers

The cable network operator Vodafone wants to activate three pay-TV channels free of charge for its customers for several weeks. The promotional period starts next weekend.

Customers of Vodafone’s GigaTV TV offer can watch pay TV for seven weeks at no additional cost, the cable operator announces on its website. Vodafone wants to activate the encrypted channels “ProSieben FUN”, “Sat.1 emotions” and “Kabel Eins CLASSICS” for its customers from 1 May to 20 June.

“All Vodafone customers who use GigaTV, a Horizon Box or a smart card for television reception have access to the channels,” writes Vodafone. Those who use GigaTV also have access to the respective media libraries of the broadcasters. During the promotion period, the listed titles should be available for up to 30 days instead of the normal seven-day availability.

Three channels deactivated

As reported by the specialized portal, Vodafone had deactivated three channels in the last few weeks. This includes the SD version of “Arte,” which, according to Vodafone, has only been available on the cable network in HD quality since March 22. Furthermore, as of April 1, the “Motorvision” station is no longer listed on the Vodafone West cable network.

“According to the provider, the background is last year’s shift in pay-TV offering,” he says. And on the German side of Vodafone Kabel another departure from the station was reported. “MTV Hits” is no longer available since March 15th.

Last year, Vodafone removed several TV stations from its cable offering in some federal states. Customers from Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia were affected. t-online has listed the full list of channels that are no longer available in a separate article.
