This is what the manufacturer says about it: Mega reminds Ford | life and knowledge

Nearly three million Fords have to go to the workshop!

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford must recall 2,925,968 cars. The affected models are Escape (2013-2019), C-Max (2013-2018), Fusion (2013-2016), Transit Connect (2013-2021) and Edge (2015-2018).

The reason: A defect in the automatic transmission can mean that the car is not shifting into the right gear. There is also a risk that the car will drive away even if the driver has passed into P (park position). Ford USA has confirmed six known cases of damage caused as a result. In four cases, people were injured.

How the error occurred is still unknown. It is conceivable that heat and humidity lead to the defect. Ford dealers in the United States will replace the defective part and add additional protection.

Mustang Mach-E, Bronco and Expedition also have to go to the workshop

But that’s not all: Also this week, Ford confirmed a recall for the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. Affected here are 48,924 vehicles from the years 2021 and 2022. There may be a sudden drop in performance while driving, due to the battery master switch overheating. So far only the Mustang Mach-E built at the Mexican plant in Cuautitlan has been affected. Chinese-made vehicles will not be recalled.

In addition, 350,000 Ford Broncos (model year 2021) had to go to the workshop in May due to engine failures. There was also a risk of fire for 39,000 vehicles. And the Ford Expedition 39013 and sibling model Lincoln Navigator (both from 2021) also have to go to the workshop due to the risk of fire.

Are German cars also affected?

It is not yet known whether German vehicles also have to go to the workshop. The fact is: many of the recalled models are also sold by us. When asked by BILD, Ford Germany explains that it is currently checking with experts whether European cars are also affected by the US recalls.
