The transition from BVB star Erling Haaland to Manchester City is perfect

Erling Haaland’s future has been the number one topic in Dortmund for months. Now there seems to be a turning point in the negotiations. The Norwegian leaves BVB.

Erling Haaland will join Manchester City, reports The Athletic. Well-informed reporter David Ornstein learned from Germany that the change was “a done deal” and should be announced this week. The “Citizens” would then withdraw the exit clause in Haaland’s contract with the BVB, which would cost him around € 75 million.

This coincides with the statements made by future BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl, who on Sunday said in the “double pass” to Sport1: “I think we will have clarity next week. I would not be surprised if it goes on in the end.”

More recently, the deal has stalled somewhat as Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola died after an illness. However, his father Alf-Inge Haaland is also part of the Norwegian’s advisory team and helped complete the move. Real Madrid were also very interested in the BVB striker, but have recently focused on a transfer from Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain), who can change for free in the summer.

Erling Haaland – a wanted man

Haaland will thus become the “true” striker of Man City. Manager Pep Guardiola recently had often relied on wingers or midfielders in the center of the attack and used them as a “false nine” or as a hanging forward. Since Sergio Aguero’s departure, Manchester lacked someone more comfortable on the outside. Especially against low opponents, Haaland with his physique is an important option for the current Premier League leaders.

The 21-year-old leaves BVB after two and a half years and 85 goals in 88 games. In addition, Haaland prepared another 23 goals. His last competitive match for Borussia will be next Saturday against Hertha BSC.
