Almost 60 years of the Porsche 911: In 1964, the sports car came on the market for the first time as a successor to the 365. So far, seven more generations have followed. A new special model commemorates some of them.
Elegant retro look, refined equipment and lots of performance: those lucky enough to call themselves a Porsche collector can now look forward to the new 911 Sport Classic, limited edition of course.
A history book on wheels
The special model can be recognized by some striking features that should remind Porsche experts of many classics:
- At the rear it has the so-called “duck tail” spoiler from previous models from the 60s and 70s.
- Rally stripes run across the hood and roof (slightly arched on the driver and front passenger).
- You can choose a special paint scheme in the gray of the Porsche 356.
- Inside there is the Pepita fabric on the seats and the two-tone black and brown leather interior. This is also part of the 911 story.
Porsche designers used the so-called original 911 from 1964 and the very rare 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972 as excellent models for the design of the special model.

Engine of the 911 Turbo
The transmission, on the other hand, comes from a different model: the current 911 Turbo. The 3.7-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine delivers 550 hp in the special model. Unlike the turbo model, the boxer engine is also manually engaged (seven gears) rather than an eight-speed automatic. An automatic double disengagement function when downshifting and a sports exhaust system make bystanders sit and notice.

Like other collectibles, Porsche charges handsomely for the Sport Classic: the price is around 273,000 euros – or around two and a half basic 911s. However, the car will be sold out quickly. Because its value is expected to increase dramatically very soon. It also has this in common with the originals.
