Higher Costs – DHL raises package prices

Logistics giant DHL is passing its rising costs onto customers. Starting next month, the cost of sending packages will increase by at least 20 cents. Furthermore, the group cancels the price advantage that was previously granted for the purchase of brands online.

The branch of the DHL Post Office raises parcel prices for private customers from 1 July. “The rising costs of transport, delivery and wages, as well as the general increase in costs, make price increases in domestic and cross-border parcel shipments inevitable,” justified the company. In the future, there will be no more price advantages for parcels and parcel brands purchased online for domestic parcels.

Branch and online prices in the Päckchen S product category rise to € 3.99 from the previous € 3.79. For the M package, 4.79 euros should be paid after the previous 4.50 euros or 4.39 euros. The price for the two-kilogram package, available only online, has risen to € 5.49 from € 4.99.

With the abolition of price differences between brands purchased online and in branch offices, the company is reducing complexity and making its package prices clearer for customers, the Post said. According to Swiss Post, parcels and plus parcels are also becoming somewhat more expensive due to rising card costs. In contrast, the branch price for the package most used by private customers will be five kilograms less at 6.99 euros, 50 cents.

Prices are also rising for international parcel and parcel shipments. The reason is the “extreme increase in flight fares” and the increase in prices for overseas delivery partners. When shipping to non-European countries, on the other hand, buying parcels and postage stamps over the Internet can still be worth it – the difference in price stays there.
