Sparkasse customers can expect a major innovation. It is now also much easier to withdraw money from bank ATMs using a smartphone. Here’s how it works.
Sparkasse customers now have even more freedom in withdrawing money. As reported by the “Caschys Blog” page, the company is starting the contactless collection via smartphone. Previously, Sparkasse customers could already get their contactless money via Girocard on some machines. In the future, smartphones should be enough for this.
The process takes place on an Android smartphone via the “Mobile Payment” app. IPhone users use the Apple Wallet. If you then find yourself at an ATM with NFC function, you must unlock the device, start the corresponding app and hold the smartphone in the marked point on the machine.
Sparkasse allows withdrawals via smartphone
The NFC interface of the ATM now reads the digital card in the smartphone and allows the “Withdraw money” option on the machine. However, the card PIN is still required for the process to finish. It is therefore not possible to withdraw money without contact. However, some Sparkasse customers will likely prefer this option because they don’t have to carry their wallet with them.
The step taken by Sparkasse is not only a relief for its customers, but also a signal to the competition. Only recently did Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken decide to stop withdrawing money via smartphone. The savings bank could also target competing customers who now lack this feature.
