New Trickstuff C42: detailed work on the power stopper

Upgrade for the brake booster: With the new C42 brake caliper, Trickstuff now offers a new four-piston brake caliper for the Direttissma and Piccola Carbon HD, which will replace the old C41. In addition to a new design, there are small but fine adjustments that are intended to make maintenance and assembly of the brake even easier.

Even after Trickstuff was taken over by DT Swiss, Trickstuff continued to develop its products. There is always a little more power or a noticeable improvement in handling that can be squeezed from somewhere: the new C42 caliper offers 4 pistons, weighs 107g and, in addition to a new design, offers revisions such as the purge port or the use of 850 Power + brake pad molds.

Of course, optics also play a certain role: the eye gets used to the shapes and is all the more fascinated when it sees something new. The design of the C42 brake caliper is also more angular and should look more modern, the design language is clearly aimed at the smaller brothers C22PM and C22FM. Because it fits so well into the new design, the bleed port of the C22 is also relocated, which is meant to make servicing the brakes more convenient.

Another subtle but refined change is in the brake pad design. The C42 uses 850 Power + pad types, which are identical in construction to those of the SRAM G2 and Guide. The background is the worldwide availability of the component giant from the United States – failure due to lack of spare parts should be largely out of the question. Of course there are also Trickstuff power and standard tires for the C42.

According to Trickstuff, if you are concerned that the new saddles will fit correctly in the post holder, you shouldn’t worry. The C42 caliper is said to have a higher tolerance to fluctuations. The assembly should always work flawlessly and not compromise performance.

By the way, even pending orders can already be equipped with the new brake caliper. Brakes that have already been ordered but will not be produced until January 2023 will be delivered to the customer at no additional cost with the upgrade to the C42 brake caliper. In the future it will be standard on Direttissima MTB brakes and on the Piccola Carbon HD. If you want to upgrade with the C42 independently, you can get the Trickstuff C42 brake caliper for € 240 (RRP) each.
