Mischa Zverev becomes a Eurosport television expert

Boris Becker is in prison and therefore cannot do his job as a television expert at Eurosport. The broadcaster announced on Wednesday the replacement of the former number one.

Mischa Zverev will replace Boris Becker as Eurosport TV expert. This was announced Wednesday by the Unterföhring broadcaster in a press release. Current number one’s brother Alexander Zverev will host the “Matchball” (formerly “Matchball Becker”) program alongside commentator and moderator Matthias Stach.

Zverev a familiar face at Eurosport

“In Mischa Zverev we have an expert who is not only close to the action, but has already worked for Eurosport at the Grand Slams and also the entire tennis tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games from the Munich-Unterföhring studio for Eurosport. He knows both our team and the processes, “said Gernot Bauer, Head of Sports at Eurosport Germany, in the press release.

Zverev looks forward to the assignment: “It will be two intense weeks of tennis with top-level matches. I don’t just want to explain to the spectators the small details that can often make big differences, but also convey their enthusiasm for tennis.”

As in the past, the duo Zverev / Stach will not air from Paris this year, but from Unterföhring’s studio. Presenter Birgit Nössing and experienced Barbara Rittner, who will retrace the match of the day around 18:30 in her “First Serve Rittner” program, will also broadcast from the Unterföhring studio.

Doomed tennis icon Becker actually still has a contract with Eurosport until 2023. According to a report by “Sport Bild”, the broadcaster is in talks with Becker’s management. The 54-year-old was sentenced last Friday to two and a half years in prison, of which he must serve at least half, for delayed bankruptcy.
