When do you play?
May 19, 2022, 8:30 pm: Hertha – second division third
May 23, 2022, 8:30 pm: Second division third – Hertha
Interesting: The second division team is entitled to the return home as their season ends on May 15 after that of the Bundesliga team on May 14. The reason for this is that the second division team has fewer days off before the first leg than the Bundesliga team.
Where’s the relegation on TV?
Both the first leg on 19 May and the return on 23 May can be seen on free live TV, Sat.1 will broadcast the duel. You can also watch the matches live on the Sky pay TV channel (advertising). Of course, you can also follow relegation matches in the BZ live ticker on BZde!
Premiere 2022
As in the Champions League and Europa League, this season there is no longer a rule for away goals in relegation. Paragraph 3 of the DFL game regulations, which governs promotions and relegations, reads: “Relegation matches will be played as a round trip according to the provisions of Uefa club competitions that apply to the knockout system matches.”
Call: If there is a tie after the first leg and the second leg, it goes to extra time and then eventually to penalties.
