HSV: Van Drongelen involved in a bad accident
According to Dutch media, the dead man is an 18-year-old man from Hulst. The accident allegedly took place on Wednesday morning around 7:40 am near the village of Axel, hometown of van Drongelen, in the southwest of the Netherlands, on the N258 road. After a head-on collision, both vehicles were thrown into the ditch and a rescue helicopter is said to have been called to the rescue. Axel is approximately 70 kilometers from Mechelen by car.
Union Berlin tweeted: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the accident victim. We send strength in these troubled times. Get well soon, Rick!
The 23-year-old witnessed Hamburg’s relegation to the second Bundesliga and three failed promotion attempts before joining Union in the Bundesliga last summer, for € 500,000. As the 18-time Dutch U21 international player didn’t have a chance with the Köpenickers, van Drongelen was loaned to Mechelen for six months in the winter. (with sid material)
