Ford Pro Electric Supervan: 2,000 PS-E-Transporter

Ford Ford Pro Commercial Vehicle Division presents a very special electric commercial vehicle at Goodwood alongside Ford Performance.

Goodwood Driver Attention: Ford launches a very special model at the 2022 Festival of Speed. It comes from the commercial vehicle division and comes with an electric drive. To ensure that an e-transporter is also suitable for the Festival of Speed, Ford Performance can also participate.

Electric supervisor with 2,000 hp

The fourth model of its kind is based on pure electric drive. With nearly 2,000 hp, this supervan is as powerful and fast, but also as clean as ever. As a basis, Ford uses the newly presented Ford E-Transit Custom. The racing transporter is and remains a study and a one-off. The Electric Supervan was developed in secret. The global Ford Performance Team, the rally and racing vehicle specialists STARD in Austria and the Ford Design Team in Cologne were involved. The demonstrator is intended to demonstrate the potential of battery electric drive technology in a brutal way.

The powertrain of the Ford Pro Electric Supervan is based on four electric motors for a total of 2,000 hp and 1,800 Nm of torque. They draw energy from a liquid-cooled 50 kWh battery via a bespoke traction management system. This does not translate into great range, but brutal driving performance. It goes from zero to 100 km / h in just two seconds. However, no stone was left out. The E-Transit Custom was authorized to donate the floor assembly only. Above it is a steel structure and a body made entirely of composite materials. The battery is located in the center and deep in the frame. Under the bodywork, the heavily modified chassis with asymmetrically long double wishbones, special spring shock absorbers, additional frames on the front and rear axles taken from motorsport and reinforced brakes have been adapted to the immensely increased dynamic potential.

Brutal racing look

Pure racing dictates the exterior shape of the Ford Pro Electric Supervan. The nose with its spoiler is very close to the road. The wide tires are under the wheel arches, which are also widened. In between, there are lavish sill extensions with air intakes and outlets in front and behind the wheels.

Ford Pro Electric Super Van

The back relies on a generous flow.

Towards the rear, the side walls of the trunk tilt inwards, thus ensuring proper airflow through the body. At the rear, a powerful roof spoiler and a slightly smaller diffuser dominate.

But the Ford Pro Electric Supervan also relies on full connectivity. The five available driving programs can be selected via touchscreens in the cockpit, cargo doors can be controlled and numerous onboard cameras can be guided and their data streamed. The drive power can also be directed to the individual axes. Even quite mundane things like making phone calls or surfing are possible. Inside, the Ford Pro Electric Supervan is equipped with an extensive FIA compliant racing safety package, which includes bucket seats and roll cage.

Racing pro Romain Dumas will drive the fastest and cleanest Ford supervan of all time on the 1.9-kilometer-long mountain course in Googwood.

No, the CO2 savings are not so high that it would be worth accepting the disadvantages in practice.

Yes, electric cars require less energy, emit less CO2 in general, and the problem of range is irrelevant due to increasing energy densities and battery charging speeds.
