The future of Bayern star Robert Lewandowski is not yet clear. Exchange or extension? Both are possible.

Munich – What are the prospects for Robert Lewandowski (33)? FC Bayern would like to keep the super forward after his contract expires on 30 June 2023. But: not at any price. Lewandowski’s poker for the future, also swarmed by FC Barcelona, is in full swing.

Lewandowski: the extension of the contract until 2025 is not excluded

Should the Pole remain with the record champions, he is said to want a contract until 2025. In favor of an extension until then: the two-time FIFA world player is one of the big names in the industry and is the best striker in the world. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (37 / Manchester United) lives as professionally and disciplined as Lewandowski. With this attitude, FC Bayern managers see a certain guarantee that he will be able to continue playing and scoring at the highest level for years to come.

Possible critical point in the negotiations with Lewandowski and his adviser Pini Zahavi, already in Munich for contractual negotiations: the salary. The best earning Lewandowski is said to require an increase in his salary for signing him, which is currently estimated at around € 24 million per year. This gives FCB leaders a headache.

Lewandowski’s demand for more money could be the sticking point

The fact is: due to the corona pandemic, the club had to accept a loss in sales of around 150 million euros. At the same time, the salaries of the players are increasing. Compared to Qatar club Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish indebted Real Madrid and FC Barcelona or investor-backed clubs in England, which in the Premier League generate around four times the annual income of top German clubs, FC Bayern have here clear boundaries. See David Alaba (29), who arrived at Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2021 after the negotiations failed.

FC Bayern also face many imponderables in the future. It is not yet foreseeable how the pandemic, the war in Ukraine or the general economic situation in Germany will develop and what effects this will have on the club’s financial situation.

FC Bayern: Doubts about Haaland’s relevance to the club

What is certain is that Monaco’s top club would like to remain in the black in the future. This is one of the reasons why, according to tz Information, there should have been a detailed debate on Erling Haaland (21) on the supervisory board. The Dortmund forward can leave BVB in the summer thanks to a fixed transfer fee of 75 million euros despite a contract until 2024. The total package including salary and commissions for his advisors Mino Raiola and Papa Alf-Inge should amount to approximately 300 million euros. There should also be strong doubts at Bayern as to whether the injury-prone Norwegian is the right one for the club.

Manchester City are still the favorite for Haaland’s commitment. At Bayern, Lewandowski has priority. Negotiations are likely to be anything but easy.
