E.Go E.Wave X: Elektrokleinwagen im Crossover-Look

Electric car startup E.Go also takes its small electric car into an off-road look and then names it E.Go E.Wave X.

In the spring of 2020, the German carmaker wanted to present the E.Go Life Concept Cross study at the Geneva Motor Show. The auto show was therefore canceled shortly before opening due to the onset of the corona pandemic. Two years later, the Aachen-based company presented the E.Go E.Wave X, the production version of the small electric car derived from it. Exactly as they promised at the time.

More power, more range

Technically, E.Go E.Wave X is obviously based on E.Go Life. Various stylish accessories make it a crossover model. These include black wheel arch extensions, wider sill panels, newly designed aprons at the front and rear, as well as additional headlights on the front bezel and a railing on the roof. In the wheel arches there are newly developed alloy wheels with a diameter of up to 18 inches.

But the crossover variant also follows suit when it comes to drives. Engine power increases from 57 to 80 kW, city range increases with a new battery from 171 to 240 kilometers. It can be recharged up to eleven kW. There are three driving programs to choose from: Eco, Comfort and Sport.

The 23-inch screen combines all displays and the infotainment system.

The Aachen-based company has also completely redesigned the cockpit landscape. The dominant element is now a 23-inch widescreen display which shows all relevant information about the vehicle as well as infotainment, multimedia and additional functions. The smartphones are integrated via Apple Carplay and Android Auto and powered via an inductive charging station in the center console. The rest of the dashboard also gets a new look, with the round air intakes now low and the redesigned three-spoke steering wheel.

With a starting price of € 24,999, the Cross version exceeds the base model by € 2,000, with both prices already including the manufacturer’s share of the € 3,570 environmental bonus. The E.Wave X can be booked immediately. The first deliveries are scheduled for the end of 2022.
