Covid-19 can “infect virtually any organ in the body”

A pathologist explains that far more people have died from Covid-19 than statistics show. Their conclusion: Covid-19 is more dangerous than many think …

In an interview with explains pathologist Kirsten Mertz, who works at the cantonal hospital in Basel, that more people have died from Covid-19 in Switzerland than the statistics show. How can this be possible?

More patients have died of Covid-19 than officially confirmed

With his team, he conducted an investigation in which he assumes more patients have died from the corona virus than official data said.

The excess mortality found according to statistics in the first and second wave period was implausible based on the numbers, so experts look again at numerous autopsy patients in this period.

“High number of unknown infected”

In doing so, they discover “a large number of undiscovered infected people,” as Mertz explains. In its investigation, the team found that more people carried the SARS-CoV-2 virus than indicated at the time of death.

While this does not automatically mean that the cause of death in these unrecorded cases is due to Covid-19, numerous autopsied patients show an association with organ failure, which in turn is linked to the coronavirus. She explains:

In lung tissue, for example, we found signs of severe inflammation typical of COVID-19. In one patient, we found blood clots in the coronary arteries, resulting in a heart attack and heart failure. We assume that in our study group, five other people who were not statistically registered died of COVID-19. This would mean that the number of deaths was eight percent higher than initially assumed.

Covid-19 can “infect virtually any organ in the body”

Additionally, pathologist Kirsten Mertz warns that corona virus can attack the body more extensively than many realize. She so she explains her in an interview

In addition to the respiratory tract and lungs, the corona virus can infect almost any organ in the body. In our tests, for example, we found it in heart or thyroid tissue in 12 of the 28 deceased, in the kidneys and adrenal glands in eight, in the pancreas in six and in the liver in five of the 28. The virus can also manifest itself in the brain. , in the umbilical cord and placenta, as others have shown.

A discovery on the course of SARS-CoV-2 made thanks to autopsies is the infection of fat cells by the coronavirus. Explain the consequences for our society:

The virus can cause inflammation, sometimes severe, of the adipose tissue. This is a very important point. Especially since we live in a world that is not only struggling with a corona pandemic, but also with an obesity pandemic.
