Conference League: Finals! Now José Mourinho can make history: football

Will he also win the third European trophy now?

The champion José Mourinho (59) reaches the Conference League final with AS Roma. The Italians beat Leicester City 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium (first leg: 1-1).

Now “The Special One” can make history and become the first coach to win three Uefa competitions. After the Champions League (2004 with Porto, 2010 with Inter) and the Europa League (2003 with Porto, 2017 with ManUnited), the former Real coach is now waiting for the Conference League, which will be played for first time.

Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham (24) provided the goal of the evening. The Englishman heads on Pellegrini’s corner for the first and deserved advantage of Roma (11th), which already means the final score.

There is next to nothing to see from Leicester and star striker Jamie Vardy (35): too little to progress.

For the Romans this is the first European final after the defeat in the Uefa Cup final in 1991 against Inter with Matthäus, Klinsmann and Brehme.

Roma’s opponent in the final on 25 May in Tirana, the capital of Albania, is Feyenoord Rotterdam. A 0-0 win at Olympique Marseille was enough for the Dutch after winning 3-2 in the first leg.

Feyenoord last played a European final exactly 20 years ago. Then they beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the Uefa Cup.
