Cloudflare – Numerous apps, websites, and services affected by the outage

The content distribution network (CDN) and DNS services of the American company Cloudflare went out of order this morning, which means that numerous apps, services and websites were temporarily unavailable and only responded to corresponding requests with an HTTP error. 500.

After more and more websites with the message 500 Internal Server Error Just before 9:00 am, Cloudflare reported the global failure of much of the content delivery network provided via the Twitter short messaging service. The company promised to correct the cause of the error as soon as possible.

A corresponding fix was implemented only an hour later and its effects on the network were observed until further notice. Soon after, Cloudflare was able to officially give the green light.

Cloudflare also promptly released a corresponding fault status report with further details.

In addition to various apps, online services, and websites, real-time wire transfers from various banks were also affected by the failure, but should now be working again.

As early as July and August 2020, Cloudflare’s content delivery network failed largely, while a DNS error recently took Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram offline for several hours.

The Web site Downdetector graphically displays current downtimes and provides an overview of all network errors. Cloudflare failures are generally accompanied by failures of other websites and services.
