ATP Rome: Alexander Zverev fails in the semifinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas – Hamburger in great fight

Exactly one week ago, in the semi-final in Madrid, Zverev celebrated his first win over Tsitsipas on clay, then lost significantly in the final to 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. For Zverev it was the eighth defeat in the twelfth duel with Tsitsipas (1: 4 on the sand).

Before the start of the French Open, Zverev nevertheless gained confidence in himself. The clay season is going well with two semi-finals (Monte Carlo and Rome) and the final in Madrid – Zverev only waited in vain for the first tournament victory of the year. That should change at Roland Garros, but Zverev has not yet won a Grand Slam tournament.

The game started on a par with Zverev taking a break to win the first set. But in his first serving match in the second round he made two double mistakes to break.
