Grischa Prömel’s departure from Union Berlin is now certain. As announced by the capital’s club on Friday, four more players will be greeted in the match against VfL Bochum.

All four players are players whose contracts expire in the summer and will not be renewed. This gives Jakob Busk, Bastian Oczipka, Anthony Ujah and Suleiman Abdullahi the opportunity to join a new club on a free transfer.
Even a promotion hero resigns
With goalkeeper Busk, one of the longest-serving players leaves the Berliners after six and a half years, who still want to celebrate the leap to the Europa League in a long-distance duel with Freiburg. That this possibility exists is also due to Abdullahi and Ujah. Former Braunschweig player Abdullahi made a decisive contribution to the promotion of the Union with a goal in the 2019 relegation match against VfB Stuttgart. Ujah meanwhile contributed to the Köpenickers relegation with three goals the following season.
Oczipka’s time in the capital was slightly shorter. The left-back joined the Irons last summer after his longtime employer, Schalke, was relegated. After 17 Bundesliga games in which he contributed with an assist, the adventure in Berlin is over for the 33-year-old.
This means that five players will be able to greet the Berliners before the last game of the season against VfL Bochum on Saturday (15:30, LIVE! On kicker). The departure of Grischa Prömels for her training club Hoffenheim has long been decided. Shortly before the start of the match, the Köpenick club wants to give the departing players “the deserved applause for their performance with the Union shirt”.
