€ 11 pocket money per week
Lilian visits Becker in prison for the first time

Boris Becker has been in Wandsworth prison in London for a week. Now he receives his first visit from his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. He will be happy, because everyday life in prison does not leave much time for joy.

Former tennis star Boris Becker received his first visit from his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro at Wandsworth prison in London. This is demonstrated by the images available in the newspaper “Bild”. Lilian can be seen in black jeans, a light blue denim jacket and white sneakers. She covers her face in a black Puma baseball cap and dark sunglasses as she walks towards the visitors’ entrance to the corrective facility.

He carries a large sports bag, also from the Herzogenaurach sports manufacturer. Boris Becker was the face of Puma for many years and was instrumental in the company’s meteoric rise in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Lilian, who had also been watching Becker’s trial in court, broke down in tears after the verdict was announced last Friday, according to trial watchers. After an air kiss in the direction of Becker, who was quickly dismissed, Lilian and a friend of hers are said to have retreated to their apartment in the Kensington neighborhood. Since then, she has only been spotted once by photographers on a walk.

Boris Becker’s daily life in prison

As reported by the newspaper “Bild”, Becker can leave his cell for 30 minutes every day. He probably doesn’t have much to eat too: the portions are small, as a prison worker told the newspaper. Becker is said to have eaten ground beef and vegetables over the weekend. And he can’t even buy much more, because according to the newspaper, the professional tennis player only receives £ 10 in pocket money a week, the equivalent of € 11.75.

Becker has to follow a strict daily routine in prison. As reported by the newspaper “Bild”, he is woken up every day at 7 in the morning. Breakfast is an hour later. Apparently he is only allowed to shower twice a week. And after 19:00 the cell is closed and you can’t leave it.

A week ago, on Friday afternoon, the court sentenced Boris Becker to 30 months in prison, which was carried out immediately. The judge and jury found it proved that he had deliberately hidden funds and assets in his bankruptcy proceedings in order to protect them from the trustee’s access. Becker and his team can still appeal the guilty verdict and sentence.
